1990 San Lucas   Foaled in 1955 by Interpretation out of Gold Loma, San Lucas represented the United States Equestrian Team in international competition from 1960 through 1972. Frank Chapot rode San Lucas at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo and in 1968 at Mexico City, where he placed fourth in both team and individual competitions. The Nevada Thoroughbred's selection to the 1972 Olympic team made him one of only three horses named to three U.S. Olympic show jumping squads (even though he did not show at the Munich Games). San Lucas also helped the USET to team Gold and Silver Medals at the Pan American Games in1963 and 1967, respectively. The chestnut gelding, standing 17.3 hands, was also one of two mounts (the other Good Twist) that helped Chapot place second in the 1966 European Championships in Lucerne. Overall, San Lucas represented the USET in a record 43 Nations' Cup competitions, with the USET winning 26. Other accomplishments include wins at the President's Cup and North American Championship in 1965 and in more than a dozen Puissance classes, highlighted by a history-making sweep of Puissance classes at Harrisburg, Washington, New York and Toronto. San Lucas retired in 1972 to the Galvin Farm outside of Dublin.
