Following are
the criteria under which classes in the 2003 Show
Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series are
to be held.
1. Series standings will be kept in two Conferences:
East and West. The East and West champion will
be named based on points accrued in Series events.
The final East event will be at the Pennsylvania
National Horse Show and the Final West event
will be at the Los Angeles National Horse Show.
2. Events may choose whether to host combined
junior/amateur-owner classes or separate classes
for amateur-owners and juniors. Either way,
entries will receive points for their appropriate
series only. For combined classes, entries will
receive the points for the place they finish
overall, not just among those on their Series
(eg: if an a/o rider wins and a junior finishes
second, the junior will receive second place
points).
3. There will be a year-end championship final
for amateur-owners and a year-end championship
final for juniors at the National Horse Show.
Entries in the amateur-owner and junior divisions
at the National Horse Show will be selected
based on overall Show Jumping Hall of Fame Series
standings as of a date to be determined. Classes
for amateur-owners and for juniors at the National
Horse Show will include an individual championship
in each division and a team competition with
teams comprising the top four riders from the
East Conference and the top four riders from
the West Conference.
4. Only running martingales, used in the conventional
manner, will be permitted. Standing martingales
draw reins, or restricting martingales are prohibited.
This must be printed in the prize list.
5. During and before the class, if management
permits, a bamboo offset may be used in the
schooling area designated by management. Whether
or not stabling is provided, all horses competing
must be on the grounds a minimum of three hours
prior to the scheduled start of the class and
must remain on the grounds until they are done
competing.
6. The course must include one double and one
triple combination (or three doubles).
7. Horses competing in the Grand Prix and/or
classes that count toward the USET computer
rankings of a horse show hosting a Show Jumping
Hall of Fame class may not compete in the Show
Jumping Hall of Fame class at that horse show
and this restriction must be printed in the
prize list. Horses found in violation of this
will not receive points from the class in question.
8. Horse Shows on the Series that restrict
entries will be asked to allow riders with more
than one horse in contention for the Series
Championship to ride two horses in the class.
9. Entry fee may not exceed 3% of the prize
money.
10. Prize money must be distributed as follows:
30% for 1st, 22% for 2nd, 13% for 3rd, 8% for
4th, 6% for 5th, 5% for 6th, 4% for 7th, 3%
for 8th and 9th, 2% for 10th, 11th and 12th
place. This is the same breakdown for awarding
series points (30 points for 1st, 22 points
for second, etc.).
11. If a qualifying class is held, both classes
must be run under the same schooling and equipment
rules.
12. Member events will be required to make
a tax-deductible contribution to the Show Jumping
Hall of Fame (a 501(c)3 charity) of $15 per
entry. This donation is to be mailed to the
Show Jumping Hall of Fame c/o the address below
within two weeks after your class is held.
13. The Show Jumping Hall of Fame class should
be the featured Amateur-Owner class, Junior
class or Junior/Amateur-Owner class at your
horse show.
14. Each class in the Series should offer prize
money of at least $5,000.
